Are Bark Control Collars Good or Bad?

Here's my experience with dog bark control collars.

Unfortunately, I live near some real busybodies. These aren't your typical concerned neighbors. They're not on the lookout for prowlers or someone trying to break into my car or home. Someone broke into my house a few months ago and noone saw a thing. No, what they're concerned about is the noise that my dogs make.

They want the whole neighborhood to be completely quiet so that they can get their beauty sleep. Have these folks not heard of ear plugs before?

They called in so many noise complaints on me, in fact, that I was forced to buy barking collars for my dogs. I own a couple of dogs, and let me tell you that training them to wear bark control collars was no walk in the park. They may work quite well on puppies, but I have older dogs.

They don't understand these collars at all. They're paralyzed by a painful sonic blast every time they make a noise. Imagine what it must feel like! What if they made a talk control collar for humans! Would you like it if every time you tried to speak, suddenly there was a loud beeping in your ear? Of course not, yet people think that this is a humane way to treat dogs.

I believe that instead of bark control collars, people should become a little bit more tolerant. It's perfectly fine for cars to drive by, honking their horns at two in the morning, but if my dogs so much as whimper, they're calling the police. Now I must admit that my dogs can be difficult at times.

Before I got the bark control collars, they could be barking as late as three or four in the morning. Nonetheless, that is isn't the point.

I used them as my burglar alarm system. A normal burglar alarm won't do that much to deter would-be assailants, but you can bet two large dogs will! Now with the bark control collars, they are all but useless as alarm systems. They can still protect me, but they're too neurotic to.

They feel like the moment that they get angry at an intruder, the bark control collar will go off. They don't know why they are being punished for speaking, but you can tell that they resent it. Because of my no good, nosy neighbors, my relationship with my dogs has definitely suffered. Dog bark control collars are one of the worst things that ever happened to me.
