Delicious Potato Salad

Every year when we have a family reunion, they tell everyone to bring a dish to pass. The problem is that they never tell anyone what they should and should not bring. We always end up with six different types of potato salad.

Though they are all different, this is definitely too much for one small family reunion. Though you may think this is something that you should always have at a picnic, you do have to realize that you might not be the only person who is making it for the affair.

The great thing about potato salad is that you can make it any way that you want. I personally like to make my own for a picnic because I do not like to have onions in mine, though most people think this is a must for any potato salad.

I disagree, and there are a lot of people in my family that agree with my thinking. I often make it without, and then have a bowl of chopped onions for those who like them. They can just add them if they want too, and the rest of us don’t have to eat them, or even worse, spend half of our meal picking them out.

If you want to make some potato salad, but you want something new and exciting, you may want to make a trip to your local bookstore for a picnic cookbook, or you may want to look online.

There are a lot of amazing recipes for potato salad that might have everything you want, and perhaps some things you have never thought of. You can find simple recipes or you can find gourmet types for your special inner party if you like.

Just remember no matter where you take your potato salad that you have to keep it cool because it is made with mayonnaise. If you leave it out, keep it out of the sun, and even then, make sure it is out long enough to be served and then put away. You can either throw away the rest of the potato salad or you can put it in a cooler.

I am never sure what to do with it, so if there are ever any leftovers I always store them away and I end up throwing them away, just to be safe. I’d rather waste a little of it than risk someone in my family getting sick from eating it after it has been out for too long.
