Installing A Closet Storage System

Having a good closet storage system can really be a lifesaver, if you know what I mean. I specialize in interior design, and one of the things that I am asked about most frequently is how to best assemble closet organizer systems.

People almost constantly want me to build modular organization systems to help them sort out the odds and ends that they can not seem to properly keep track of, and it is little wonder why.

If you are not experienced with closet storage systems, they can be a nightmare to put together, especially if you are in a place with limited room and space. There is just no way that everyone can figure out closet storage systems without help – that is where I come in to help them.

The biggest trick with closet storage systems is to think about exactly what you need to store ahead of time. You can build beautiful closet storage systems that serve no useful purpose at all if you do not do it this way. The trick with closet storage systems is that every space should have a purpose and every item should have a place where it goes.

Otherwise, it will just turn into a hectic and chaotic mess, and no type of closet organization system at all. The whole purpose of closet storage systems is to resolve your mess, so it makes little or no difference whether or not they look good. All that is important is that they can neaten things up and keep them in order. That is, after all, what closet storage systems are for.

There are all kinds of closet storage systems that are available for different people with different needs, so it is important to get a feel for just what you want to be doing with yours. For example, some closet storage systems are made all of cloth, and are best for keeping little odds and ends sorted and clothing hanging in place.

Other ones are made out of rugged wooden boxes. I would use the latter closet storage systems only if you have a lot of space, as wood boxes tend to take up a lot more room than you would think. But then again, that is just my opinion. Other people would most likely see the matter differently. That is the beauty of organization – for every person there is a different way to go about organizing, but no way is wrong or right in and of itself.
