Quit Smoking Support Groups

As a smoker, I know that one of the hardest things you can do is to quit. I have tried many, many times, and I have yet to succeed. Perhaps my next step will be to look for quit smoking support groups in my area.

I understand that nicotine is a powerfully addictive substance, and I know that it is going to take more than my will to quit to actually achieve my goal. This is something I am very serious about however, and I have decided I would like to quit smoking within the year. I gave myself this much time because I fear it may take more than one try to succeed.

The great thing about quit smoking support groups is that you can find them in many places. If you cannot find one in your community, you can most likely find one online. If you do a quick search, you will see that there are a great number of quit smoking support groups out there.

No matter who you are or where you come from, you can find one that will fit your lifestyle and personality. Perhaps the most important step including is knowing where to get support, and that it is okay to rely on others to help you through.

If you don’t find any quit smoking support groups in your community, this may be something you want to start on your own. Though it might not be a good idea to walk up to a stranger who is smoking, and ask them if they wish to quit, a simple ad in your local paper may bring people to you. There may be more people in your community looking for quit smoking support groups than you realize. There are many people in every community who wish to quit, but they simply don’t know where to start.

You may also find that the government and the tobacco companies have created quit smoking support groups that you can join. These may be both in your community and online. It is becoming more and more obvious that smoking kills people, and the tobacco companies are being held responsible.

This means that they are trying to follow new guidelines that state they must do what they can to deter teenagers from smoking, and to help those who are already smoking to quit. It really doesn’t matter who is running the quit smoking support groups that you may want to join, all that matters is that you join.
